Hot on the heels of playing Reese Witherspoon's spirit buddy in 'Just Like Heaven', underutilized actor Mark Ruffalo is taking his career in another direction. He's getting involved with the mob. .
Variety reports that Ruffalo has signed on to play an undercover cop brought into the Lucchesi crime family in the course of investigating a murder. Based on the book by New York Times reporter David Kocieniewski, things get complicated when our undercover hero discovers a conspiracy that leads to the son of a high-ranking police official.
The movie is called 'The Brass Wall' and the rights have been optioned by Phoenix Pictures. We've had our share of corrupt cop movies, they're kind of like doctor shows on television, but hopefully the underutilized Ruffalo can bring something fresh to this otherwise tired genre.
