Madonna and Ritchie in Toronto for Revolver
Sep 13, 2005, 13:19 GMT
Madonna stole the show at the premiere of husband Guy Ritchie's new movie, 'Revolver'.
Despite recovering from her recent horse riding accident, the pop queen stepped out with her director husband at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada.
Guy said: "The wife is very good, thanks. Eight broken bones and she's come with me."
Madonna - sporting a black sling to match her outfit - admitted she didn't want to miss her husband's premiere, saying: "You would have had to have broken both my arms and both my legs for me to not come here."
However, the movie - which is Guy's first since the disastrous 'Swept Away', which starred Madonna - has so far been mauled by the critics.
The Hollywood Reporter has slammed it, with critic Kirk Honeycutt writing: "The film's pretentious style and fractured storytelling preclude any audience involvement in the coy melodrama."
Meanwhile, Screen International says the film, which stars Outkast's Andre 3000 and Ray Liotta, is a "convoluted, risibly overwrought muddle" which will leave viewers "bewildered and disappointed".
However, Guy claims he wants the movie to make audiences think.
He said: "I think I got fed up with films that don't make you think. I liked the idea of one that you have to be dancing around with. I like my mind to be engaged when I watch a film. So, the idea was really to put five films in one."
