Scorsese rises for Roosevelt

Master director Martin Scorsese is set to reunite with his new muse Leonardo DiCaprio for a look at the life of US president Teddy Roosevelt, according to Variety. The film will be their fourth together after completion of their current project, an Irish mafia pic called ‘The Departed’.
Paramount Pictures has picked up the rights to a novel by Edmund Morris called “The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt” with the intent of developing it as a film for Scorsese and DiCaprio. The book documents the life of America’s rough riding president, as he rose from a privileged life as a Harvard graduated New Yorker to become a rancher, a warrior, and a politician.
It’s safe to assume DiCaprio will be taking on the title role, though Leo’s lanky, slight frame seems hardly suited for the stocky, bulldog build of the 26th president. With the screenplay still in progress under the pen of former ‘Wrath of Khan’ director Nicholas Meyer, it’ll be some time before Paramount is ready for Scorsese and DiCaprio to start cracking on the project.
