Saw this last night (it was released in France last week). Very mysterious film. Certainly part of it was a retelling of DON QUIXOTE, but that ain't the whole story. Could be a retelling of a story I don't know, could be something entirely new. Lots of people aren't going to like it because the movie doesn't tell you its message, but of course if you're like me you're a bit tired of being manhandled around and you tend to like unpredictable films. Really couldn't spot where it was going. Wish the writing had been a little more simplified, as there are some scenes that could simply be dropped without batting an eye. Would that there were more scenes such as the one in which Pete shows off Mel's house. Anyway, if you're from Texas like I am, feel at ease--this isn't a reprise of that awfully stupid John Sayles movie LONE STAR, which was false in every way that THREE BURIALS is authentic. Still can't get my head around it--partly because of all the echoes of Peckinpagh and Cormac McCarthy...
