Chennai, Oct 16 (IANS) Debutant director Ram's 'Katrathu Thamizh', earlier named 'Thamizh MA', has got a good opening across Tamil Nadu, surprising many because it isn't a typical 'masala' film but a serious and hard-hitting one.
The top five Tamil films are:
1. 'Katrathu Thamizh' - Director: Ram. It is Ram's directorial debut, and what a film it is! Tamil cinema has not had such a hard-hitting film in recent times.
2. 'Malaikottai' - Director: Bhoopathy Pandian. Critics panned the film but the masses have really appreciated it.
3. 'Marudhamalai' - Director: Suraj. Actor Arjun's 'masala' film is doing good business at the box office.
4. 'Satham Podathey' - Director: S.M. Vasanth. The director has a winner in this thriller that has Prithviraj and Padmapriya playing the lead roles.
5. 'Sivaji' - Director: Shankar. The movie completed the 100-day mark some time ago and its makers are just waiting for the next milestone to be crossed.
