Bangalore, Sep 28 (IANS) Kannada director Omkar is making a film on the life and times of 102-year-old Sri Sri Shivakumara Swami of the Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur.
The Swami has received a state award for spearheading a campaign for total literacy in Karnataka. According to Mutt officials, nearly 10,000 students get free food and shelter along with education under the campaign.
The film is titled 'Jnanajyothi Siddhaganga'. Shivadhwaj, Doddanna, J.K. Srinivasa Murthy and Suchindra Prasad play important roles in the film. Yuvaraj scores the music.
'In these days of scientific and technological advance, spiritualism is not getting its due recognition. I sincerely hope that films like 'Jnanajyothi Siddaganga' will provide some enlightenment to the people,' said Omkar, who himself is a Mutt devotee.
Omkar had earlier made a film on another spiritual mentor of Karnataka, Jagadguru Renukarcharya.
