Will Kay Kay return in 'Sarkar 2' as a ghost?
By Subhash K. Jha Jun 20, 2007, 11:15 GMT
Mumbai, June 20 (IANS) Those who saw Ram Gopal Varma's take on Sarkar are wondering how the sequel which starts shooting next month will accommodate the newly-married couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
Ramu says: 'I'm aware that everyone has an opinion on the Sarkar sequel. I was informed that Aishwarya plays an evil daughter-in-law determined to destroy her father-in-law's empire. This kind of talk may be very spicy for those who are looking at the Bachchans rather than the film.
'I'm looking at the plot and I'm certainly not going to fall prey to gimmicks. 'Sarkar 2' is my first sequel and I want it to go the 'Munnabhai' way, not the way some other sequels have.'
The film will feature much of the cast from 'Sarkar', but obviously not Kay Kay Menon who played Abhishek's hot-headed elder brother who was gunned down in the earlier film.
A rumour has it that Ramu intends to revive his character as a ghost.
'And turn 'Sarkar' into another Bhoot? No way! Like I said, no gimmicks in 'Sarkar 2'. It'll be far more real and intense than 'Sarkar'.'
Ramu added that there would be no Katrina Kaif, no Rukhsar (who played Kay Kay's wife) and no songs either in the sequel.
'Yeah the film will have music. But no singing,' says Ramu. 'As for directing Abhishek and Aishwarya together, I didn't sign them knowing they were getting married. I'll treat them as characters, not as personalities. Aishwarya will be projected in a light she has never been seen in before.'
