82nd Oscar Nominated Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Symposium announced

Academy Governor Leonard Engelman has sent to Monsters and Critics the seven films selected for the makeup and hair styling arts for this year's Oscar race.

These films will culminate in a "bake-off" that will winnow the three outstanding films up for an Academy Award in these crafts.

The Annual 82nd Oscar Nominated Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:30 PM.

This must-see event for makeup artists and hairstylists will celebrate the Oscar Nominated Films for Best Makeup for 2009 along with the nominated individual makeup artists and hairstylists. 

Extended film clips will be shown for each makeup artist and hairstylist team selected by the Motion Picture Academy.

The clips are followed by a robust and anecdotal (always surprising and often funny) discussion from the nominees about their films and the processes involved in creating their artistry.

Attendees are allowed to ask questions after the presentation period toward the end of the event.  Afterwards, all are invited to join the nominees in the Academy Grand Lobby for a gala reception, and view the nominee’s displays.

Oscar nominated films will be chosen from these seven films:
 
“District 9”

“Il Divo”

“Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian”

“The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”

 “The Road”

“The Young Victoria”

“Star Trek”

Nominations for the three finalists will be announced February 2, 2010.

This free of charge pre-Oscar event is held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.

Complimentary Parking is located at 8920 and 9025 Wilshire Boulevard.  Doors will open at 1:30 PM.
