For the 30 million fans of the stage musical 'Mamma Mia!' it is a travesty that the movie was cast with actors who are not only non-singers and non-dancers, but are also way too old. The story goes that Donna was about 21 when she got pregnant with Sophie and that was 21 years ago. So do the math. Donna and the three possible fathers should all be around 42. Meryl Streep is 59, Pierce and Stellan are in their mid-50s and Colin is in his late 40s. Not one of them is the right age, including Donna's two friends. Hearing them all joke during interviews about being non-singers and non-dancers is an insult to those who love the stage show because of the great performances. If age was not a consideration, then 62-year-old Bette Midler should have been cast as Donna. She can sing, dance and act, and looks much younger than Meryl. It is a mystery why Bjorn & Benny approved this cast of non-singers for their world famous musical. At least movie musicals in the past had Marni Nixon's wonderful dubbed voice. A real disappointment.

I completely disagree with the previous remark. I have already heard Meryl Streep's performance of 'The winner takes it all', and I think she is just stunning. ABBA fans from the Southern Hemisphere are just happy about the cast and eagerly awaiting for the premiere which will take place in Buenos Aires Argentina on August 21st.

Does it have anything to do with age, or even how well the actors can sing? I saw the movie recently and found it really entertaining, and all the characters suited their parts perfectly. Who cares how well thy sing or how youthful they look?
The movie says it all!

That girl getting her photo with Stellan is SOOO lucky!!
I just saw the film for the scong time tonight and loved it! The fact that they are not perfect is what makes the film so enjoyable. If they could all sing perfectly and immaculately the film would just be dull!

BELLE: First of all, i think Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and the rest of Mamma Mia´s cast are really great actors. They are soooo incredibly great that they did a great perfomance even though they were not professional singers or dancers. They did an amazing performance and nobody can´t denny it... also, Meryl and Pierce.. they look like if they actually are in their early 40's. Besides, age was not the point in this movie. And, come on, they do look great!
