M&Cs Top 10 movie trailers of 2007

As we welcome in 2008 with hangovers and colds we look back at some of the stand out movie trailers of the past year. 2007 has seen a huge selection of great trailers promising great movies and as per usual not all the films themselves lived up to the expectations created by the trailers.

Also like any other year trailers have helped in making and braking films financially. Mini budget blockbuster '300' benefited from great marketing grossing close to half a billion dollars worldwide, while on the opposite end of the scale recent release 'The Golden Compass' with a much larger production budget of $180 million fell victim with less gripping and original marketing. Trailers for the film made it look as though it was another knock off fantasy picture like last years 'Eragon', feeding from the success of 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Narnia' movies. While the film itself was no where near as bad as last Decembers 'Eragon' it has fallen victim to the similar imitation marketing. To date the film has only grossed $58 million in the United States.

So anyway lets move onto the top ten list of the years best trailers. I've watched through hundreds of trailers this year as that’s part of the job and these were the ten I thought stood out more than any others. Note that not all the trailers were for films that were released in cinema's this year.

Good choice for the top spot and all round good lot. Worst trailer of 2007 was sure the Saw 4 teaser, terrible.
