I think the effects that shine the most in the 'Pirates' films are not the Prosthetics or make up (being as there is no need for such effects) but the CGI work!! Which is simply sublime!!! The undead crew of the Black Pearl from the first film. Then Davey Jones crew on the Flying Dutchman (a clever combination of sharks and humans) from the second.

These are the real monster makers of today and the glory days of prosthetic work are nearly over. Wave 'bye bye' to tangable effects and 'hello' to the wonders of 'bluescreen'.
