Of all the independent films that cross the desk of this movie editor, ‘Stagknight’ (scripted by Simon Cathcart and Robert Mercer, directed by Cathcart), has great appeal.
Don’t know if it is because of the laid back film presentation, the film’s pr people’s ability to bring out the comedy/horror theme of the film in correspondence or the damn addictive game on the film’s website.
‘Stagknight’ is getting ready for its presentation to sales agents and distributors at the American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles in early November.
The film is inspired by the underground horror movement of the 70’s which spawned ‘Evil Dead,’ ‘I Spit on your Grave’ and ‘Samurai Assassin,’ blended with the finest most loved screwball comedy to create a satirical comedy-horror flick: throw in hot babes, a giant medieval killing machine, UK toilet humor and you have everything a guy could want to see.
Storyline goes like this: Brian Seamen has reformed the Weekend Warriors his old paintball team for his Stag night, a night of mind bending narcotics, crotch busting sex and grizzly bloodcurdling slaughter (not part of his plan).
There's a giant hulking ancient evil loose in the woods, out for blood and determined to make sure Brian and his Warriors don't make it out of Happy Valley Paintball park in one piece.
Sexy Danielle Mason plays the hilariously filthy stripper “Ginger”, in ‘Stagknight.’ Following is a short interview with Danielle:
So, how was it playing the character of Ginger?
DM: Playing Ginger was loads of fun. We’re quite similar in some ways, i.e the partying and the having fun, but I'm definitely not as easy as she is!
What was it like making a comedy sexy-horror film with so many guys on set?
DM: There was heaps of testosterone, but nothing I couldn’t handle. I’m comfortable with my body around men but the communal dressing room got a bit hairy if you know what I mean.
It must have been freezing in those woods, what was the toughest scene you had to play?
DM: Definitely the scenes at the satanic sacrificial alter, where I get my throat cut. Now that was pretty tough. It was like 2am, sub zero temperatures in only my knickers freezing my tits off!
Ginger about to die.
You have our total sympathy. Any other scenes?
DM: The stripping scenes were a laugh and the bong scene where I had to give out blowjobs was a funny one as well. Especially as one of the guys was drumming on my head while I was working him over.
What would your ideal hen’s night be and would it involve paintball?
DM: (Laughs) Paintball could actually be quite fun…I think just getting together with my best girlfriends having a few drinks and perhaps a stripper or two …. Dunno about shooting anyone though...Shots yes!
Did any supernatural things happen on set?
DM: My clothes kept disappearing, but I think that was the lads. I think they were selling them on Ebay.
A lot of people are saying that ‘Stagknight’ is the new ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ what’s the difference for you?
DM: Well it’s definitely sexier, cause I’m in it, funnier for sure and it’s got much, much better kills, top skin and blood; everything guys want.
The villian
What’s next for you?
DM: Well it’s all hush-hush but I guarantee you’ll be seeing a whole lot more of me when this movie lands later this year.
Coming Soon: Stagknight’s Jocelyn Osorio!
