A job, a wife, a baby and no free time. I haven’t seen the films but based on what I’ve heard and know, we’ll see if the movie is worth it. It’s the UNSEEN MOVIE REVIEW.
I think Cammy Diaz is still riding the wave that was There’s Something About Mary. Has she been in any other big hits that were a result of her or her personality? Charlie’s Angels sold itself more as three hot chicks who kick ass rather than a Cameron movie. And Shrek was a Mike and Eddie vehicle. Other than her recent press headlines for the lawsuit over nude photos, I wouldn’t even know she was still making movies. Oh wait, she’s also dating Justin Timberlake and there’s no better music to clean out last season’s clothes from the closet to than that of boy band music. I thought she was fine in The Mask, but lately I got to admit I don’t see the attraction, especially when she tries to be a serious actress in a Martin Scorsese or a Curtis Hanson film with Toni Collette. That strikes me a lot like Traci Lords suddenly doing straight to video films. Maybe you exclude the underage porno past in the comparison.
You can be sure I will not be seeing In Her Shoes, since it was the one commercial where the Mrs. put the must see stamp on it. She’s welcome to it. I’ll stay home, play with the kid, and get up to my elbows in dirty diapers. Somehow that seems more enjoyable. The film is directed by Curtis Hanson which is the one thing that has me somewhat curious to see it. LA Confidential was one of the top ten films of the past ten years, (yes, it was up there with Titanic and Tremors 2 – Oh, Michael Gross when will the Academy recognize you) but I was really disappointed with 8 mile which never really had me believing in Eminem. It was cool to see him win an Oscar though even though he didn’t show up because he was busy with his hizzoes. In Her Shoes also stars Shirley MacLaine, and it’s always cool to see Shirley back on the big screen. She was so great in the old Billy Wilder flicks, but that was another lifetime, literally with Shirley. So I’ll pass on the latest Diaz disaster, but I’m sure my wife will be there with all her friends and her shoes.
The one film I am hoping to get out and see is Waiting. It stars Ryan Reynolds working in a Fridays kind of restaurant. Ryan just cracks me up. His timing and delivery is so effortless. Kind of like me and the ladies in college. He seems so natural and so at ease making people laugh. Hell, I even caught a few episodes of Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, or whatever that dumb sitcom was called. The cool thing about Waiting is it also stars Justin Long, another guy who makes me laugh. He was the best part of Dodgeball and is the only reason to buy Wake Up Ron Burgundy. Also, I just like movies (or real life) where you see cooks and waiters spit in people’s food before they serve it.
Site reviews later in the week.
