I waited hours in line yesterday for the midnight opening of Transformers 2 - Revenge of the Fallen. Didn't get to sleep until 3:30 am and then had to get to work in the morning. I am not a teenager so not an easy task but well worth the time and lack of sleep. I have been reading all the reviews and am disgusted with just about all the film critics/wanna-be critics posting bad reviews of this movie.
They are trashing the movie for being what it was meant to be! They are trashing Bay for doing what he does well. The first movie was successful because it had a simple plot, good humor, sexual allure, visual appeal, and edge-of-your seat action. The second is a magnified version of the same. And that is what Transformer fans wanted. I didn't stay up all darn night looking to analyze characters or find my epiphany in the plot. I went to enjoy the simplistic, exciting, and energizing escape from life that movies like Transformers provides. I went for entertainment! It was a rush and I recommend anyone who likes this type of movie to see it on the big screen.
Reviewers should only write reviews about movies that interest them or fall into their realm of expertise. And the general public needs to get back to judging for themselves and stop relying on other peoples' opinions.
