The Time Traveler's Wife -

Based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger.

The book follows Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.

I am both excited and concerned about this film..
I loved the book for it's intelligent, sophisticated and heartwrenchingly sad love story. The fear is the film will miss small but infinately important details from the book in order to fit it into a standard 'time' slot. Only focusing on the major events will detract from the cleverness of the plot. Plus the casting will be very difficult (Getting stars who are too big will make it too commercial, and too small could cause it to flop!)

This is favourite books, I give it to everyone who will take it, but I hold grave concern that the film will not come close to doing the novel justice! I hope I'm wrong!!!

I was so excited to hear that they are making TTW into a film, although I'm not too sure about the casting, hopefully they'll do justice, though not sure about the little girl to play Alba, she doesn't look the part.

But I really hope the screen play is well written. While I read the story I had just a clear picture of what was going on. Plus, I wonder if they are casting for the different ages, or the current age of the characters will still be played by the same actors with make up? Like is 30 year old clair going to play teenage clair? That's the tricky part I guess about doing a time traveling picture.

i am so excited that they are making it into a movie. But i believe that for Alba they should have picked Dakota Fanning and for as young Clare they should have pick Adair Tishler (Molly from Heroes) but in any case i hope the movie does really well. Can't wait to see it.

I am afraid that I share the very same fear as many of those who have commented: that the movie will not do any justice to the story of Claire and Henry. The Time Traveller's Wife is one of the most sensitively written, resonating stories I have ever read... I feel that the only way to do the film would be to stretch it out over a series of epics which only the book's avid fans woud appreciate. Having been disappointed by so many books-turned-films, for me the outlook is bleak.

This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read......I have recommended it to so many other people who have also enjoyed it immensly.

I will keep an open mind about the film but it is so hard to make a film that does justice to a really good book, About the only film I have seen after reading the book and was impressed with was Green Mile it was so close to my perception of the book........I hope they take time and effort to make this film.....fulfil the expectations of anyone who has read this wonderful book.

If you have not read it yet I recommend you do so

I think the cast is a good one, but I agree it will be important to really show some of the smaller details of the novel as the big one's because both of those things are the things that reak havoc and build strong relationships....I do hope they go into Henry's past with the scene of the accident as this experience is what really leads him to become who he is both physicly and pychologicly through out his lif time...I also think it is important that they do make a point to jump around with Henry, even when crossing differant ages with himself, because it is a metophor and literal sense of why his relationship with Claire is a complex as it is!

Im afraid everyone will probably be disapointed with the time travelers wife. The book was excellent and a one off.The movie is going to be mostly about the love story,i mean if the film was to go into detail about time travel it would be too long and difficult to explain.Anyone who has read this book will know how much Henry travels through time. From start to finish he is all over the place. It will be too difficult to put on the big screen and therefore it will be a disapointment.Dont get your hopes up if you loved this book like i did.

I am also an avid fan of the book. I too am nervous about the movie; I can't see it doing the book justice. The film's short length already gives me trepidation. I don't see how much of the story they can get in when the movie is only aboout 1:45. This book requires at minimum a 2:30 to 2:45 movie. I expect such disappointment that I might wait for the DVD. I do hope that in the least, the movie inspire's those who haven't read the book, to read it.
