The Saddest Music in the World -
Chester (McKinney), a failed Broadway impresario, comes home to Winniepeg with his sweetheart, an amnesiac named Narcissa (De Medeiros). He looks up his old flame, prairie Beer Baroness Lady Port-Huntley (Rossellini) and discovers that she is promoting her Muskeg Brewery by offering a $25,000 purse to the musician with the saddest tune. As contestants flock to Winniepeg from around the globe, Chester vies for the prize along with his streetcar-driving Dad and his mock Serbian brother, a morose cellist who keeps his son's heart in a jar, preserved by tears.
As Mexico faces off against Siam and Canada against Africa, a pair of unctuous radio commentators keep the world glued to their radios waiting to dicover who will win the grand prize !
