The Lovely Bones -
Adapted from Alice Sebold's novel of the same name.
When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. This was before milk carton photos and public service announcements, she tells us; back in 1973, when Susie mysteriously disappeared, people still believed these things didn't happen.
In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death, and her own adjustment to the strange new place she finds herself. (It looks a lot like her school playground, with the good kind of swingset.)
With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief--her father embarks on a search for the killer, her sister undertakes a feat of amazing daring, her little brother builds a fort in her honor--and begin the difficult process of healing.
In the hands of a brilliant new novelist, and through the eyes of her winning young heroine, this story of seemingly unbearable tragedy is transformed into a suspenseful, touching, even funny novel about family, memory, love, heaven, and living.

the lovely bones is one of my favorite books, and i didn't think i could be more excited to learn that it was being brought to the big screen...
but then i found out that mark wahlberg will be in it! holy cow! i. just. can't. wait.
i cant wait until this movie comes out to see what they dont to the school that i attended when i was a little girl and to see my sisters house they used for this film me and my family are excited bout this whole issue they film a this movie in my sisters backyard in east fallowfield, coatesville pa soo we cant wait
This is great! This movie is being filmed only minutes from my home. right in my hometown! The filming part in the Macdade Mall is so exciting too. I did all my Christmas shopping in that mall for many years. In fact, my parents used to take me to see Santa there when I was a young girl. I saw how the crew of the movie recreated all the stores to make it look like the 70's. Its an amazing thing to see how they did it and it brings back many memories too. and all the other areas in Pa that they are filming also are very close to my home. I understand that crews were looking for an abandoned mall to do some of the filming. and this mall is just the right one to film. its been closed for a few years now. I think there is only one store left open if that. I cant wait till the movie comes out.
OMG!!!i can't believe that their really filming a movie at the macdade mall, i live 5 minutes from there i can walk there from my house, my uncle lives right across the street! nothin like this ever happens around here this is so exciting. i grew up going to that mall, the movie sounds like its gonna be good too i can't wait till it comes out so i can see it!!
The movie is being filmed in my neighborhood! In the little mall, which is now closed down, but I use to hang out in when I was little. The novel is my favorite and the fact that the movie is taking place in my neighborhood is thrilling - I cannot wait for the movie to come out. For those who have not read the novel, I must make one suggestion - READ IT. A definite must.
It's awesome that the movie is filmed at the macdade mall. I remember going there all the time! I even stole from there in 3rd grade (shhhhh) Even though now it's gross and trashy it used to be cool back then! and I bet more people have been in it for filming the movie than in the last 5 years. LOL
They filmed the scenes with the sink hole on a dirt road near my house, after the film crew left, I went up and walked around the site and stood in awe at the fact that I was somewhere Peter Jackson had also been :)
I first read The Lovely Bones about 3 years ago, and I was affected more deeply than I had ever been by any book. I wanted to wait awhile before reading it again, so that I could experience it all 'for the first time' once more. I held out until about 6 months ago, and I was just as enormously moved by the second reading. I couldn't be happier that there is a movie being made now, and I seriously sympathize with anyone who happens to be in the thatre with me when I see it; I'm going to be an emotional wreck!
well i really think that it is great they are making a movie i think that is so cool o those of u that live were it is being filmed but i am a little sad beause thinking about now i realise that the movie will have to change a lot so that they dont scare people with the rape and the beggining i mean i had a hard time getting throuh that part just reading it but i am sur they find a way to keep to the story most of the time

This movie is being filmed in my hometown...down the street from where I used to live! I am amazed something exciting is finally happening there. I'm a huge Peter Jackson fan after LOTR so I am excited to see the movie. Now I have to run out and get the book.
