As previously reported chances of The Hobbit being made depend a lot on whether Time Warner aquire MGM. Since, although New Line Cinema (part of Time Warner) own the rights to make the movie, MGM has the international distribution rights.
Variety is reporting today that Sony is having trouble finalising a deal with MGM. Making it more likely that Time Warner will close the deal. We will be tracking this one closely.
