The Good Shepherd -
The untold story of the birth of the CIA viewed through the life of a man who believed in America and would sacrifice everything he loved to protect it- is told in The Good Shepherd, an epic drama starring Academy Award winners Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro and directed by Robert De Niro.
Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) understands the value of secrecy-discretion and commitment to honor have been embedded in him since childhood. As an eager, optimistic student at Yale, he is recruited to join the secret society Skull and Bones, a brotherhood and breeding ground for future world leaders. Wilson's acute mind, spotless reputation and sincere belief in American values render him a prime candidate for a career in intelligence, and he is soon recruited to work for the OSS (the precursor to the CIA) during WWII. As one of the covert founders of the CIA working in the heart of an organization where duplicity is required and nothing is taken at face value, Wilson's idealism is steadily eroded by a growing suspicious nature, reflective of a world settling into the long paranoia of the Cold War.
As his methods are adopted as standard operating procedure, Wilson develops into one of the Agency's veteran operatives, all the while combating his KGB counterpart. However, his steely dedication to his country comes at an ever-increasing price. Not even his wife Clover (Angelina Jolie) or his beloved son can divert Wilson from a path that will force him to sacrifice everything in pursuit of this job.
Joining Damon, Jolie and De Niro in the all-star cast are actors Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, Michael Gambon, William Hurt and John Turturro.
The Good Shepherd is directed by De Niro, written by Eric Roth and produced by Morgan Creek's James G. Robinson and Tribeca Production' Jane Rosenthal and De Niro.

Sounds like you should have seen a nice safe film like 'Happy Feet', rather than one that engages your one's intelligence. Oh snap.
This movie is great! It may be a little long and dull for people with a low attention span but it is otherwise a great history lesson and it has kept me thinking about our government and what it's capable of doing. Matt Damon is a great actor. I love Angelina Jolie. I know a movie is good when it stays on my mind for days. Like I said before, it can drag a little but it is very interesting. It may be best to read the synopsis since the movie does go back and forth a lot. I like the Wikipedia synopsis.
It's one of the better movies I have seen in the last 5 years or so. Great storytelling, excellent acting, intelligent. In short, a rarely gratifying experience these day at the movies.

The worst movie we have ever watched in a theater. When would it end you keep asking yourself and what exactly is the story or the point?? It's absolutely awful!!!
