This will be a sequel to the original 1982 cult classic.
TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure about a father and son (JEFF BRIDGES, GARRETT HEDLUND) who embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
The original, about a computer programer thrust into a computer and forced to fight in games he helped create, is remembered for its sci-fi gladiator-style battles and groundbreaking special effects. It was the first movie to use computer-generated images instead of models and other optical effects in conjunction with live action. The arcade game based on the movie was so popular that it earned more than the movie.

Oh the places they'll go! The original Tron movie was groundbreaking. Way ahead of its time, it is now finally ready to stand on its own as a significant contribution in cinematic history.
I only hope that this movie is done right and not dumbed down or just thrown together for the sake of making a sequel.
There are so many places the writers can go with the story. The effects will be mindblowing once again and may actually get a nod by Oscar this time around, instead of being accused of cheating by using computers back in '82.
I look forward with great anticipation to the fall of 2010 for what could be another groundbreaking entry in the Tron saga!
