I don't think John C. Riley should play Mr. Crepsley either, He's to freakin' old
cool! a lot of people agree with us. I mean, he has like black bushy hair when Mr. Crepsley has strait thin red hair! it says so in the book. the scar can be added with make-up but i just want to see how he does. Anyone have any info on what the movie is rated???

Aye yi yi! You guys know nothing of movies. John C. can play Mr.Crepsley all you need is some makeup and they can mess with the hair to make it nice. That department can work miracles. Plus I don't think that the author has the same look in his head about Mr.Crepsley i mean he may think he looks a little old and ugly not that their is nothing wrong with it i mean they can make that scars, the orange crop of hair and all that crap. Their is nothing that can not be done to him to make him as real as possible.
I think John C. Rielly will okay. I mean, yeah he's not 100% Mr. Crepsley but we will just have to see. We won't really know until after we all see the movie. And I absolutely love the person they picked for Darran and Josh Hutcherson might be an okay Steve. He's never really played a part like that but like I said, we'll just have to see. I am so excited for the movie!
This page has inaccurate or too little information. First of all, Darren Shan in the book is not 14 but 12. Second of all, there is way more cast than Salma Heyek and John. Howvever, I shall say that this movie will turn out great. Or let's hope so. The boy who is portraying Darren is excellent for the part. Though I do not support the opinion that John Reily will be a good Mr. Crepsley
I love this book! I'm only on the 5th book, but I love it! I hate it when people post stuff when they haven't even read it!! I read this one thing about the movie and the reporter was like, this movie sounds lame, but at least it has John in it!
I don't think John is going to be a bad Mr. Crepsley! Everyone says he is, and I think that is mean! I think he will do just fine! He has played a lot of different characters, so I think he can handle this!

Crepsley is in his 200's!john is only like in his mid-40's!oh, and he can easily be made to look like mr.crepsley! His head can be shaved,his hair can be dyed red,and a scar can be added! Also there are some advantages to having him. He's tall like mr. Crepsley. He's 6'1'!and he's thin like crepslet too! Did you see him in walk hard. He may look pudgy, but he's not. There's no need to overreact! Calm the hell down! Jeez, give him a chance!!!

ok the one playing mr. crepsley is not right lol people playing steve and darren is perfect but i kinda have slight doubts on evra but i picture mr. tall a little like um u know from harry poter who plays as volder mort i kinda pictured that but also i thought Mr. Tiny would be a little fater in the book its says hes fatter and isnt Mr. Crepsley supposed to have orange hair i pictured differnt but i love the book series but whats messed up in Allies of the night it said in the classroom part were darren noticed her it says 'pretty black women' where shes an adult but in tunnels of blood shes white a little messed up dont u think they also have hidden grammer mess ups lol but i hope the movie will be great but i thought cormac limbs was a dude. but i want to see the movie badly either way

Way to go! Personally, I love the cirque du freak books, and chris j kelly (darren) is the perfect person to play the part. He is so hot! But, i really hope that you guys make more than one movie because i seriously think you will break all of the fans hearts if you don't. Trust me. #1 fan right here. i read all of the books like 1,000000 times and i will know if you skip a part in the movie. soooooooo, include all of the parts and then add some of your own if you wish!

oh and a nother thing most of the actors for this movie will be good....but i don't think they should make it into a movie cause producers will completly mess up the storyline and by the time it comes out it won't be about a 12 (the age has already changed though) year old boy who becomes a vampire but a 14 year old boy who becomes a demon that must fight something called the demonazane...just think about it

I think the movie will be great...though I am a bit suspicious about John's role of Crepsley...John is more like a comedian and Crepsley is very strict and sirious...but we will see,it's not good to judge someones acting in advance.

I just read the very last 'Cirque Du Freak' book. It was kind of a bad ending, and kind of a good ending... I almost cried!! lol. The reason I thought it was, odd was because of how all of a sudden, Darren became a little person, and he died.

Awhile ago, I was researching something about the Cirque Du Freak book for school. Then suddenly, my mouth dropped to the keyboard as I realized this book was being turned into a movie. I'm still shocked. Cirque Du Freak is my favorite book. I started reading it six years ago, and still can't get enough. I love it. Hopefully this movie won't get turned into a joke; I think a lot a fans will be angry. I know I will be. I always wished this book would be turned into a movie, and now its happening. If only my second wish would come true: to join the cast and act in one of the movies, I would be the happiest person on earth! : ) I am so excited!!!! I agree that the actor playing mr.Crepsley is not for the part.I have seen some of his other roles and I don't think he's that good of an actor for this part.And he is pretty old,and he doesn't fit the description for Mr.Crepsley. Besides that I think the movie is soing to be so sick!! =] I can't wait!!! =)

How many movies will it take to fininsh all the books? I mean it is a twelve book series and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT.
Personally, I think they could have made much a better choice in casting Crepsley, John C Reilly definitely doesn't scream out 'Vampire!' in my mind. But in the books, he is described as ugly and I don't remember ever reading that he was young.
In the case of the hair color, I have two words: Hair dye
I've read up on the makeup deparment of this movie, and most of them have worked on movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Van Helsing, Planet of the Apes and tons of other movies with a lot of makeup and prosthetic challenges. I'm pretty sure that they can make Reilly into at least a passable Larten Crepsley.
Plus, the director, producers, director of photography, film editors, and other crew can make all the difference even with an actor who isn't the greatest. It's the technical department plays a huge part in making the actors look good, in every sense of the phrase, and from what I know they can make this a good movie.
No one has seen the movie yet, so you can't determine whether it will be good or bad until you see it.
i think this movie will AT LEAST be ok. I would have never thought of John as Crepsly, but now that he is, i can see him at least a little bit in the part.
I totally agree with the hair dye! Has noone ever heard of it??? There is 6 pages of complains saying that he doesn't have red hair!!! Believe it or not, it can be made red.
I don't ever recall reading that Mr. C. was young... or old... I always pictured him in his late 30's or early 40's. It depends who you are. A lot of my friends and i think that john will do fine... Not the best, but at least ok. In our minds, he's about the right age!
I think that Josh Hutcherson will play steve perfect. Josh just has that evil like stare that is perfect!!!

Well it appears Cirque Du Freak will be a for sure movie, no idea when it will becoming out but I'm looking forward to it. But I agree with most you John C. Reilly doesn't fit the role of Mr. Crepsley he's not that dark and mysterious as the character. John is a comedian and probably should stick with it, I'm disappointed at the choice but who knows maybe he'll turn the part and surprise us? Let's hope but I'll still watch the movie since I'm a fan of the entire book series. I just hope if they do make the movie, they will continue making them and not stop. They started that with the Series of Unfortunate Events, they packed 3 parts in one but didn't continue with it. Anyway I'm excited to see how Cirque Du Freak turns out :)

I agree! John should not play Mr. Crepsly. When I saw his picture I was like what! How can he play Mr. Crepsly. I heard in this movie they are combining the first three books together. I hate when they do that! I hope this is like the book because I hate when movies aren't like the books. It probably won't be then my family and friends will be all into it and I will be like Thats not what happened in the book! I hate doing that.
I'M SOOO HAPPY THEY'RE MAKING THIS MOVIE. I think John C. Riley would be a good Mr. Crepsly, he could do this kind of role and his face is all scarred up like Mr. Crepsly's.

Josh is not short and fat. He's kind of thin and like over 6 foot. I am glad that they did dye his hair cuz that would ruin the entire movie for me. Any who wants to see a picture from the movie look up Cirque du Freak (film) on wikipedia.

personally i think the movie isnt gonna be as good as the books but it'll probably come close. cirque du freak is a very good series, it would be a shame if the movie didnt live up to its' name. anyway, y is every body complaining about john c reily? so what if he is a little old? mr. crepsley is between 100-200 years old. lol.
i just wonder how the makeup crew or watever are going to get reily's hair into a red-orangish crop. everything else seems fine. all the actors and actresses fit their role very well.

okay so i love almost everyone who has thier parts in the movie,
darren is great steve at first was a little weary but then i thought about how he i suppoused to look nice but in some pictures he has a nice face but there is something dark about him,
the only two i an furious about is Mr. Tall and Des.Tiny
Mr. tall is supposed to be... well tall and the actor i ths asian guy[no offense to asians] but their not gunna be tall enough or weird looking enough
and it's the guy from the new mummy movie
and des.tiny is a normal sized person and he is supposed to be tiny so those are the only two that i think they messed up on,
other then that they hit almost everything thing on the spot,
also Crepsley is not the best match,
but he will do i suppose
but i just can't wait till this movie comes out.

I think Hayek is well cast for Truska, so far she, and possibly Watanabe as Mr Tall, seem the most suitably cast actors for their roles. I thought Dafoe would have been better choice for Mr Crepsley than Reilly as Mr Crepsley always struck me as more of a slender, gaunt man; but best of luck to both. My only question is why they have cut Debbie's character and replaced her with a new love-interest? I don't remember a white girl called Rebecca catching Darren's eye in the book but maybe I'll have to re-read them. Anyone else puzzled by this change?

OMG! I love cirque du freak but personally, I DO NOT think that John C. Reily should play Mr. Crepsley! The actor that is playing Darren (Chris J. Kelly) is perfect for the part though!
