Pretty Leila Lopes – also known as Miss Angola – is the newly crowned Miss Universe.
The 60th Annual Miss Universe Pageant was hosted by Bravo network chieftain Andy Cohen and NBC’s reporter Natalie Morales.
The event was broadcast from São Paulo, Brazil, where contestants from nearly 90 countries around the world competed in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and personality interview.
Lopez is the first winner ever from her country, the 25 year-old from Benguela has loved pageants since she was a little girl. Lopes also enjoys reading.
Her winning answer to the Q&A moment sealed the deal.
“Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing,” Lopes said. “I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.”
The first runner-up was Olesia Stefanko of Ukraine and second runner-up was Priscila Machado of Brazil, followed by Miss Philippines and Miss China to round out the top five.
