Mike Starr to replace Brad Garrett in The Odd Couple

New York: Mike Starr will replace Brad Garrett as Murray the Cop in Broadway’s revival of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple.

Garrett’s contract ends on January 1st. Starr will begin performances on the 3rd.

Starr has been seen on Broadway in The Guys in the Truck and Requiem for a Heavyweight. He starred in the television series Ed and numerous in films including Goodfellas, The Ice Harvest, Ed Wood, Dumb and Dumber, The Bodyguard, Billy Bathgate, Lean on Me, The Natural, and Uncle Buck.

The Odd Couple opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on October 27th to average reviews. The dream team of Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick have teamed up once again since their celebrated pairing in The Producers. The show racked up over $21.5 million in advance ticket sales, and is virtually sold out.

The rest of the cast includes Lee Wilkof as Vinnie, Rob Bartlett as Speed, Peter Frechette as Roy, Jessica Stone as Cecily, and Olivia d’Abo as Gwendolyn. Joe Mantello directs.

The Odd Couple centers around two polar opposite roommates, sloppy and outgoing Oscar Madison (Nathan Lane) and neat, uptight Felix Unger (Matthew Broderick).
