Michael Phelps loses Kellogg, suspended from sport

The picture of Michael Phelps smoking a bong at a college party has caused the Olympic gold medalist to lose a big sponsor.

CNN reports that the 8-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer has also been suspended for three months by USA Swimming.

The Kellogg co. put Phelps on boxes of its Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes.  Now sponsor Kellogg says they will no longer be in business with Phelps. The Cereal and snack maker will not renew its sponsorhip contract with Olympic swimmer because he has confirmed he did smoke marijuana last fall.

The company released a statement Thursday that Phelps’s behavior is “not consistent with the image of Kellogg.”

Kellogg says its contract with Phelps expires at the end of the month.
