Melissa Etheridge auctions instruments to benefit Breast Cancer Care & Research Fund

Rocker and cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge and her band mates (bass player Mark Browne, guitarist Philip Sayce and drummer Fritz Lewak) will be donating the instruments they played during Melissa’s 2006 Summer Tour to benefit a leading breast cancer organization, Breast Cancer Care & Research Fund.  The auction will be hosted on eBay Giving Works and begins today, Aug.t 4th.  Every Friday throughout the month of August a new instrument will be made available.

Melissa and Philip are each donating a guitar, Mark a bass and Fritz is auctioning off his entire drum set, including cymbals. All instruments will have been used throughout Melissa’s 2006 Summer Tour. They will be autographed by Melissa and the band. Rare and extremely limited edition guitar straps will also be signed and auctioned separately.

Proceeds from these auctions will benefit the Breast Cancer Care & Research Fund (BCCRF) which was founded in 1998 by Dr. John Link, a medical breast oncologist and President of Breastlink Medical Group, Inc. BCCRF’s mission is to educate breast cancer patients and their families through dissemination of information about the disease; promote clinical research trials; provide referral services to patients who would otherwise not have access to care; and provide psychological and social services to breast cancer patients and their families.
