The war between Mariah and Mary is officially on. After threatening legal action to protect her name from a look alike porn star, pop diva Mariah Carey yesterday filed a formal opposition to the bid by former California gubernatorial candidate and star of many girl on girl flicks, Mary Carey, to trademark her stage name.
The SmokingGun.com has the entire notice filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mariah’s company, Automatic Pritsincess Holdings, “argues that Mary Carey’s bid to trademark her name for use in adult films, DVDs, cassettes, computer programs, and other commercial endeavors is likely to result in confusion for the consumer.”
Mariah Carey contends that the public is “likely to mistakenly associate the goods offered” by Mary Carey–whose real name is Mary Cook–with the performer’s “goods and services.”
The Gun reports that porno actress Mary Carey, 26, has appeared in films like “Lesbian Big Boob Bangeroo 2,” and received 11,000 votes in her 2003 election won by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
