Lil Wayne is going away for a spell

Lil Wayne will do real time in the big house.

Rapper and tattoo fan Lil Wayne (Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday (October 22) stemming from a July 2007 arrest following his first headlining concert in New York.

He is expected to serve his one year sentence behind bars, according to the Associated Press.  The charges against him stem from July 2007, when police pulled over Wayne’s tour bus at the New York’s Beacon Theatre. They arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana.

New Orleans’ native Wayne recently shared with reporters he is expecting another son with R&B singer Nivea. This will be his fourth child, all of them with different mothers.

His first, daughter Reginae, was born when he was just age 15 with Antonia “Toya” Carter.   His second child, Dwayne III, was born in 2008 in Cincinnati.  His third child, Lennox Samuel Ari, was born to actress Lauren London in 2009. He is expecting his fourth child with singer Nivea.

Wayne appeared at the hearing at 10:05 a.m. ET and it was reportedly over in 20 minutes.

The AP reports that Wayne will be sentenced in February 2010 and is expected to serve eight to 10 months of his one year sentence, assuming good behavior. He must also appear in court in December for a parole update.
