Melbourne publishes free music travel guides
Melbourne (dpa) - A new free pocket-sized music travel guide has been published, providing information on all musical events going on in the Australian city of Melbourne.
The 60-page guide can be picked up in cafes, bars and restaurants and covers more than 370 concert venues and festivals. It also gives details of any current gigs, as well as tips about music shops, travel and hotels, according the Melbourne tourist office. An online version of the guide can be accessed at www.musicvictoria.com.au.
Cathay Pacific introduces a new premium class
Frankfurt (dpa) - Cathay Pacific plans to introduce a new premium economy class for all its long-haul flights in the second quarter of 2012. For an extra charge, passengers will get extra leg space, new seats with a greater recline, as well as a TV and a multi-port connection for electronic devices, according to the airline. Premium economy passengers will also have an increased luggage allowance of 25 instead of the usual 20 kilograms.
New ski lift for Polish ski region
Szelment, Poland (dpa) - The Polish winter sport resort of Szelment near the Lithuanian border has been expanded ahead of the winter skiing season. A new ski lift to the snow park at the 220-metre-high Jesionowa Gora mountain is already in operation, making it the eighth in the ski region. The resort at Jezioro Szelment near Suwalki has six pistes with a length of 1.5 kilometres. (www.wosir-szelment.pl)
Cemetery tours in Ecuador
Frankfurt (dpa) - Tourists have a choice of options when exploring the historical Cementerio General de Guayaquil graveyard, thanks to four different tours.
The 15-hectare cemetery dates from 1856 and is home to around 700,000 graves, according to Ecuador's Frankfurt tourist office. One tour operates under the name 'Under the sky of remembrance' and covers 18 stops, including visits to the graves of writer Enrique Gil Gilberto and two-time Ecuador president Eloy Alfaro. Freeride parks in Val di Fassa
Rome (dpa) - Two new freeride parks in the Italian ski region of Val di Fassa in South Tyrol offer deep snow, a signposted piste and a ski-lift. The 'Col Margherita Freeride Experience' situated on the northern face of the Col Margherita is 800 m long while the second park, called 'Toe', can be found at Belvedere in Canazei and stretches to 1,000 m.
