The Seychelles, located off of Africa, are a top pick for European vacationers, but the recent suspected Bull shark attack on a British man, honeymooning with his bride, have caught the headlines.
The Sun reported that British honeymooner Ian Redmond was attacked in shallow water just 100ft from the beach in the Seychelles as his frantic new wife watched.
His bride, Gemma, 27, was on the beach and heard him shout "help, help" as the Bull shark killed him.
She told the British press: "I loved him so much and he was a very special husband, a thoughtful son and a devoted brother.
"He worked tirelessly to give us both a wonderful married life and home.
"We were having so much fun and we were so excited about our future together."
The shark attack on her late husband Ian occurred on Praslin Island and was the second reported so far by a Bull shark in two weeks.
The Sun recorded eyewitness accounts of Ian's rescue from the water, but his injuries were too severe: "The swimmer was missing a huge chunk of flesh from his left leg, so much so that I could see the bone of his thigh. He was sickeningly pale, but still had his flippers on both feet.
An islander reportedly told the paper: "The man was swimming close to the beach. He began splashing and shouting. His arm was ripped off and parts of his torso were missing. There was a horrific amount of blood in the water. It was like Jaws."
He added: "The damage was too great. It was too horrific for her to see."
The previous Bull shark attack victim was a French diver.
