Munich - A partner's slovenly appearance and stress in the relationship can spoil the desire for sex, a survey of Germans showed.

Eighty-one percent of women and 73 per cent of men feel put off by a partner's lack of grooming, according to the survey, which was commissioned by the magazine Lisa, published in Munich.

In addition, 71 per cent of women and 63 per cent of men had no desire to act erotically, if the partner seemed indifferent and was not willing to reciprocate.

Seventy-one per cent of women, but only 43 per cent of men lost their desire when their partner demanded sexual techniques which were not to their liking.

More than half of respondents or 56 per cent said everyday stress is a 'sex killer'. Four of 10 people asked or 41 per cent said they lost their desire for sex when they felt dissatisfied with their bodies.

More than three-fourths or 79 per cent said they talked with their partner when their erotic experience was not fulfilling. Only 4 per cent come to terms with sex that is not fulfilling or try to find a solution without talking to their partner.

The survey was conducted by the Institute TNS Emnid in Bielefeld. About 500 men and women between the ages of 20 and 49 were interviewed.
