Cologne, Germany - Joggers should vary their routes in order to prevent a loss of interest in their sports activity, sports medicine experts say. Helge Knigge, an official with a school for sports medicine in Cologne, Germany, said joggers should run their circuits occasionally in the other direction. 'We also recommend sometimes lengthening the route and sometimes shortening it,' Knigge told the German Press Agency dpa. Leaving a well-known course for another route that cuts across a frequently used one or leaving a well-known route to jog through a completely different area prevents boredom and is important for maintaining motivation.
