As a long time inline skater, I can't emphasize more the purchase and USE of a good quality, properly fitted skating helmet. Even if you don't wear pads or wrist guards and helmet is vital. Skinned knees and bruised hips heal, brain injuries don't. I've hit my head on the pavement half a dozen times and my helmet has alway saved me.
