Ice city opens in Moscow
Moscow (dpa) - Snow and ice are always in abundant supply in Moscow in the winter time but for those looking for a little extra an ice city has opened in the city's Sokolniki Park. 'Moroz City' - or Frost City as it's called - is made from 1,000 cubic metres of snow and 500 blocks of ice. Designed by architects, it's equipped with a furnished igloo, large sculptures, an ice tower with a slide, a registry office and a prison. Entertainment comes in the form of an ice mini golf course and a theatre. Moroz City is due to remain open until the beginning of March. (www.artzona.ru)
Switzerland: designer hotels get the comfy touch
Zurich (dpa) - Switzerland is currently experiencing a boom in its classic hotel industry as well as in individually tailored accommodation. 'Swiss hotels are making do without a star ranking and are moving towards cool design. But in addition to that, they're placing more importance on things like very comfy beds and the type of homely meals you would get from your mother,' according to clack.ch, a Swiss online magazine.
The new hotels have nothing to do with 'very low-end budget' accommodation. Rather they're carefully designed hotels with vintage furniture and wireless connections to the internet. 'They don't need to look grandiose but they do need a WLAN. They need to fulfil the motto of the present generation: My Cloud is my Castle.' Examples of this new kind of Swiss hotel include Frau Meise in Baden near Zurich, Zum Guten Gluck or Fur Dich in Zurich and Alles ist Gut in Zug.
New Coke bottle features DJ David Guetta
Paris (dpa) - Drinks maker Coca Cola has brought out a special edition in France of its most popular beverage aimed at the country's nightclub-going culture. 'Club Coke' is the seventh incarnation of the drink which was developed to pay tribute to musicians such as British singer Mika and the French electronic music duo Daft Punk.
This year it's French DJ David Guetta's turn. His album Nothing But The Beat adorns the aluminium bottle which glows in the dark. According to Guetta's official website, the bottle is on sale 'in selected, trendy clubs' in France and in Monoprix stores. In Paris the drink can be bought at the legendary concept store Colette.
