Winter trend: the chunky scarf
Berlin (dpa) - Thick scarves have become the big fashion accessory of the winter season. Fine, thin scarves were once popular but this year the trend has made a complete turnaround. Last winter, teenagers were the first to discover the chunky scarf look but now it's been taken up by adults as well. The fashionable scarf should be long, colourful and above all voluminous, either tied with a knot or tucked in at the end.
Get to know your microbes
Berlin (dpa) - A German website called my.microbes.eu is conducting a unique scientific study into the ecosystem of the human intestine. Scientists believe there is a link between microbes in the human gut and overall health. The website is aimed at understanding the interaction between microbes and humans. Project leader Peer Bork says the site's 1,000 anonymous registered users can learn 'more about their clinical picture.' To take part you need to register and send in a stool sample. However, participation is not free. It costs just under 1,000 euros (1,388 dollars) to have your sample analysed.

A new restaurant is due to open in the German capital in January called 'In The Mix.'
