Fashionistas, Are You Ready For Some Football?

Gel pedicures are a great idea for many reasons; the color or designs will last until you take them off, no longer do you have the possibility that one toe will peel off leaving 9 lovely red toe nails and one sad plain one looking totally dejected.

It’s finally here!

After 6 long months of post-season post-mortems, new head coach headaches, national signing day shockers, spring practice injury reports, NCAA scandals and investigations, fall practices, two-a-days and pre-season rankings…. College football is finally back!

Can I get a “Fight On,” people?

It’s time again for those trips to Smart & Final for your tailgating needs (cough, cough… Jello Shots) and planning wild weekenders, following your team to cheer them to victory or weep with them over that stupid loss because of bad coaching, blind refs or shoddy clock management.

I get ready for the fall season with a new football wardrobe, for both my body and my feet.

Years ago I noticed if you aren’t a teeny tiny size 2 and have 18 year-old boobs, then you were basically screwed out of cute fan fashions.  I really think that the “men” who run football, both National and College, believe that all women should look like Barbie Doll cheerleaders… but we don’t.

We come in all shapes and sizes, we are sexy AND we all love the pigskin.  I’m an adorable (ahem) Los Angeles average, basically a size 6 and I couldn’t find cute, adult fan-wear that fits comfortably.  Until, I discovered Meesh & Mia.

Meesh & Mia designs football fashions that are made for women who crave fashion and comfort.   Two things we should all be on the hunt for in our football wardrobe.  Meesh & Mia started a female fanwear revolution.  These two fashion forward ladies are taking today’s latest trends and combining them with your favorite school colors and logos.

They are providing a unique and stylish approach to University apparel to wear to the game, to the office, to Friday night happy hour!  Providing looks for the diehard fanatic or the closet enthusiast their styles are available with or without school logos, so you can choose whether you want to show your school pride loud and proud, or a little more subtle with just some game day colors!

Meesh & Mia has everything from yoga pants to cocktail dresses, from twill jackets to sequined mini skirts in your favorite school colors and with your alma mater’s logo.  So far, they have over 125 school logos to choose from and the list keeps growing.  Go to www.meeshandmia.com and stock up for the season.  (PS, they also have some NFL team logos available)

Another way of showing school spirit is through my toes.  I went to USC and still go to all the games, I am a proud Trojan! And I express that every season by getting my “tro-toes”, basically a pedicure with my school colors.  This year I kicked it up a notch when I found out that my favorite place to get waxed also does amazing things with toes.

Plush Beauty Bar in West Hollywood offers a gel pedicure with any design you can come up with.  I sent Alana, the nail tech extraordinaire, a picture of the USC logo a few days in advance so she could do a few practice runs.  She nailed it (pun intended).

Gel manicures have been the trend for a few years now, but did you know that you can also do a gel pedicure?   Just ask Plush’s long standing celebrity clients, Demi Moore, Janice Dickenson and Jenna Dewan Tatum.  Plush Beauty Bar only uses the top of the line products from Nail Harmony and CND.  The cost of the basic gel pedicure is $45 and nail art is an additional $5/nail.  But remember, your nails won’t chip, scuff or break so it is well worth it.

First off, Alana gave me an awesome pedicure with a wonderful deep relaxing foot and leg massage and just as I was drifting off to sleep with dreams of victory cups and Rose Bowl rings in my future she started the process of gelling my tootsies.

First the base color went on, then it dried under a UV light, after that Alana drew, free form, the USC logo on my big toe and outlined it in black.  Each time a layer goes on you have to put your toes under the UV light to dry the gel.    Alana was so good that at the last second I opted to get a football design on my other big toe (she had never drawn one before) and it turned out amazing.

Gel pedicures are a great idea for many reasons; the color or designs will last until you take them off, no longer do you have the possibility that one toe will peel off leaving 9 lovely red toe nails and one sad plain one looking totally dejected.  And since gel dries immediately, you don’t have to wear those waste-of-paper- paper shoes if you forget your flip flops.  You can even put on your gym shoes and go for a work out right after.  Go to www.plushbeautybar.com to make an appointment.
