The company is American, established in 1994 by a group of self-described over-achieving athletes and design freaks who wanted to perfect technical eyewear. Their products are designed by Spy in the USA (California) and are manufactured and assembled, by hand, in their own factory in Varese, Italy.

The hot Spy Optic glasses we encountered were the "Quanta" model, a lightweight frame spherical sunglass that is one of several models they manufacture. The reason the crew loves this style because the glasses stay on even if you are looking down from rigging lighting overhead or taping down cable in hot weather outdoors.

The glasses are weightless and hug the head without any pain. They also don't touch the cheeks or face in any way, and are the perfect sunglasses for bicyclists and runners, allowing air to circulate and sweat to not build up at the nose or sides of the frame.
