Flip Flops are the business.

After a winter of 20 foot-snow drifts, rain and more rain, wearing a pair of brand spanking new 'flops is frakking sweet.

They mean summer, no work and lots of good times.  In footwear and fashion, flip-flops (also known as thongs) are a flat, backless sandal that consist of a flat sole held on the foot by a u-shaped strap that passes between the first (big) and second toes and around either side of the foot.

They appear to have been developed based on traditional Japanese woven or wooden soled sandals. The exact invention date is not known. But it was many thousand of years ago by early stylish humans who had had enough of snow, rain and stepping on ouch-ey rocks.

Flip Flops are celebrated in Pop Culture.  Jimmy Buffett sings, "I blew out my flip-flop." in "Margaritaville."  At the closing ceremony for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Kylie Minogue was carried into the stadium on a giant thong to perform "On a Night Like This".  Even Adult Swim's Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the Aqua Teens' neighbor, Carl, wears green flip-flops.

In America, the first flip flops started to appear after World War II as soldiers brought Japanese zori (a form of flip flop with a thong held between the toes) back from the war, often as souvenirs.

American company FlipOut Sandals created the amazing interchangeable crystal “Shoe Jewelry” Flip Flpps that deliver different looks with the same Flip Flop base.

Each pair of FlipOut Sandals comes with two versatile ornaments that can be flipped out with a simple twist, with more interchangeable designs available online. Ladies can go from casual to dressy and day to night, just by switching out the crystal ornaments, which range from rare orchids, daisies, roses, and butterflies – the perfect accessory for any summer outfit!

FlipOut Sandals come in two styles: a Brazilian style flip flop and a chic "haute couture" Jelly, both stylish and comfortable options to strut the boardwalks, beaches, and lounge pool side.

The FlipOut Sandals Brazilian style flip flop retails under $20 and available in 6 colors (white, black, metallic cooper, metallic silver, navy and robin blue). The FlipOut Sandals Couture Jelly style fashion flip flop retails for $59.99 and available in pink, clear and smoke.

All styles are available online at www.shop.flipoutsandals.com

June 17th is National Flip Flop day, and FlipOut will honor this summer staple and join in the celebration by gifting customers an additional pair of Brazilian style flip flops (of equal or lesser value) with every pair they purchase on June 17th.

Sandals are best as pairs...so send a pair over to your sister, mother, best gal pal, or throw the extra set in your beach tote for an effortless change of wardrobe everywhere you go! FlipOut Sandals wants everyone to wear a pair on their favorite day of the year!
