Monsters and Critics put Dryel to the test to see if the home dry cleaning product could handle a minor but pesky issue.
Youngest teenage son decides to wipe greasy Cheetos finger on mom's silk sham pillow cover.
Def Con three screaming commences.
Luckily mom was sent a Dryel home dry cleaning kit to try out.
Whether you have a clueless kid like me or just want to preserve your dark denims that are filling the fashion pages, catwalks, sidewalks and storefronts (apparently dark denim is the must-have for your wardrobe right now), there is something that can keep the depth of the dye in the fabric from fading.
Once you get those jeans or jeggins home – how do you keep them looking brand new? Dryel is a convenient at-home Dry Cleaning system that safely steams and cleans soils, stains and odors while removing wrinkles and saving considerable time and money.
Every fashionable piece in your wardrobe can be cared for with Dryel, including the latest styles of dark jeans and denim. In fact, Dryel cleans 10 garments for the cost of one dry cleaned garment, and it works great on all clothing and greasy finger stained pillow shams like mine.
Dryel is cheap compared to real dry cleaning, at $6.99. You can find more information at www.dryel.com.
The process according to Dryel:
Zip It, Steam It, Hang It.
Just place up to four garments in the Dryel Bag and add the pre-moistened Dryel Cloth and Zip It.

Place it in your dryer for 30 minutes to Steam It.

Then remove your garments from the Dryel Bag and Hang it.
Before I pretreated the area, I deliberately put a pen ink dot in the center of the grease stain. I also threw in a dress that I had worn a few times and needed a cleaning too.

This is not a replacement for professional dry cleaning completely, but for spot items and over all refreshing and odor removal, it is brilliant.

Make sure you also put your Dryel bag in with a "regular" load of laundry you are drying. The extra steam will help get the wrinkles out of the bagged items.
When the clothes are still hot, hang them up to help remove wrinkles. If your dryer has a "cool down" cycle remove before that cycle starts.
You must expect to iron some items - fabrics such as linen or clothes with pleats
Do not expect Dryel to replace dry cleaning to remove pet hair.

The results are in the picture, and I was able to restore the sham and remove the grease spot and the ink dot.
The kid... I am still stuck with.
