MP3 Players as noisy as a Formula 1 car
May 11, 2006, 16:09 GMT
Hamburg - Several portable MP3 Players can be as loud as a Formula 1 car causing irreparable damage to your hearing, the German Forum of Good Hearing (FGH) warned quoting a recent British study.
The FGH said the study found that 39 per cent of 18 to 24-year olds spent at least one hour per day listening to music via headphones with a volume of up to 105 decibels (dB(A).
Youths listening to music at such a volume for just over 25 minutes were exposing their hearing to the maximum level the ears could tolerate in a week, according to FGH.
Several portable MP3 Players were found to have a volume of 130 db(A) which was the same sound level produced by a Formula 1 car on the racing track.
