The Best in Holiday 2012 Gift Finds is an ongoing series until December that celebrates the practical to the extravagant, the unusual to the commonly needed items of everyday life.

From food, wine and spirits to beauty, clothing and even home goods and appliances, we have been trying and testing and ultimately weeding out the good stuff you should consider for giving this holiday season. Take us shopping with you.

How do you know it's Christmas? For me it's the scents of the season, and no one does it better than Crabtree & Evelyn.

The best in home fragrance is from the company which has been turning out the finest candles, sprays and potpourri since 1973 by an entrepreneur named Cyrus Harvey.

What started as a shop for milled hand-made soaps has quietly and artfully dedicated their trade to selling only all-natural products. Today it the premiere retailer of all things that smell, feel and taste good.

The concept for Crabtree & Evelyn's products is based on the English tradition of a "still room." This was a room where flowers, herbs and fruit grown in the home's garden were transformed into soothing fragrances, bath oils and skin care products. This holistic care ethos, combined with independent design studio Pearlfisher's gorgeous packaging touches have created the perfect narrative for its fleeting 2012 Christmas gift collection.

The collection comprises of both a home fragrance range in two scents, Noel and Winter Garden, and a Personal Care range. We prefer classic Noel, and make sure it's around every year. Spices, evergreen clarity tempered with spices and an intangible scent which I chalk up to bottled nostalgia. I really don't now how they do it.

Elusive, like your favorite brand of Egg Nog, The Crabtree & Evelyn 2012 Christmas gift collection will be available in-store and online until Christmas Eve.
