The Best in Holiday 2012 Gift Finds is an ongoing series until December that celebrates the practical to the extravagant, the unusual to the commonly needed items of everyday life.

From food, wine and spirits to beauty, clothing and even home goods and appliances, we have been trying and testing and ultimately weeding out the good stuff you should consider for giving this holiday season. Take us shopping with you.

Two of my favorite flavors - Chocolate and Ginger - get the Holiday treatment.
These are American-made treats that are packaged with love and originality, and are a great food gift to consider that is also reasonable in price. (Under $8)

California baker Isabella's cookie company offer vegan options and they use the finest ingredients - like organic real butter, sweet vanilla, and the best quality chocolate, coconut and peanut butter - in every batch to produce 1/3 pound cookie bags.

What you do NOT get are artificial ingredients or preservatives, they only have a fourteen day shelf life before they begin to lose their freshness, and can be frozen or kept in the fridge to prolong shelf life.

Trust me - they won't last that long.

My picks for gifts include the Abominable Snowball  is a chocolate-ty cookie with coconut shavings sprinkled on top. Dense like a truffle and texturally rewarding, moist and loaded with real chocolate chunks.

The winner at my house was the Little Baby Ginger,  a soft chewy gingerbread cookie topped with vanilla icing, akin to a Hermit bar.

Established in 2001, Isabella’s Cookie Company has delivered delicious gifts made with meticulous attention to detail. The cookies are available to order online, on the phone, or in retail outlets such as Whole Foods and locally (Southern California)at Gelson’s Market.
