Hot Valentine's Day Gift: Ravi Instant Wine Chiller a cool Canadian invention
By April MacIntyre Feb 9, 2012, 21:53 GMT

Genius and useful, Ravi Instant Wine Chiller showcases brilliant work from well-known Québec designer Michel Dallaire.
Ravi is based on the innovative concept of cooling wine at the very moment it’s served. Unlike a traditional ice bath, the wine passes through the device, and is cooled to a precise cellar temperature.
The cooling process takes place as the wine passes through ravi. With an internal tube made from the same stainless steel used for fermentation tanks, ravi maintains the wine’s characteristics and never alters the taste
Easy to use, Ravi is placed on the neck of the wine bottle, and has a valve that lets you control the flow of wine to obtain the desired temperature.
This Wine Chiller stays in the freezer and when you need it, insert it in your wine bottle and pour. When the wine flows through the frozen steel chamber, it is instantly cooled to the perfect serving temperature. This is a great gift for any wine lover.
Ravi has to be placed in the freezer for six hours before you use it. Once you remove it from the freezer, assemble the two components and place the device on the neck of your wine bottle.
Place your thumb on the air-intake valve and tip the bottle sharply. Once it’s in the serving position, remove your thumb to let the wine flow.
When serving the first glass of red wine, pour the wine without slowing the flow. For the second glass, slow the flow slightly by placing your thumb on the air intake; for the third, slow the flow a little more, and so on. With repeated use (several glasses), the inside of the tube is warmed by the flow of the wine, so you must slow the flow to ensure sufficient cooling.

Ravi addresses the issue of red wines which are usually served too warm. The alcohol tends to predominate, concealing the fruit of the wine. Ravi is intended mainly for red wine, enables you to go instantaneously from room temperature to that of a wine cellar, namely between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius (54 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit).
When you’re enjoying white wine or rosé wine, this device can cool to perfection a wine that has been left at room temperature for a little too long.
