Kia reveals second generation cee'd in Geneva
Feb 29, 2012, 3:06 GMT
Geneva - South Korean manufacturer Kia is unveiling the second generation cee'd at the Geneva Motor Show with a sporty trim in a segment dominated by cars such as the VW Golf, Opel Astra and Ford Focus.
According to Kia, the Generation II will come in the design of a sports coupe but offer the same space as a standard compact. It will be available in European showrooms in June this year.
The new cee'd comes with a front grille taking the 'tiger nose' design cue from the current Kia range. Similar to the sister car, the Hyundai i30, the proportions are wider and flatter compared to the predecessor model.
Material quality has been improved with touchscreen technology making it easier to operate the systems, the manufacturer says.
Features include LED daylight running lights, new fog lamps and modified exterior mirrors. Kia is remaining quiet on the choice of engines. The previous model included five petrol versions and four diesel units. A Sporty Wagon is in the pipeline for September.
