Feb 1, 2012, 3:06 GMT
Geneva - A car sharing project of the future will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March by EDAG Light Car Sharing featuring an electric-powered concept vehicle with very simple operating features.
The EDAG Light Car does away with all the frills such as door upholstery and has a simple display for information such as speed, loading capacity of the battery, range and GPS.
Fitted with two side doors the EDAG vehicle offers seating for six persons. Folddown seats offer maximum transport capacity. The interior is made with robust materials also found in trams and buses that can easily be cleaned or replaced. It is fitted with a 30kW electric motor. Acceleration from zero to 60 km/h is in seven seconds with a range of 100 kilometres.
An inbuilt laser indicates the distance to the curb, ensuring safe exit and entry of passengers. The rear window can also be used as an electronic advertising billboard by the fleet operator when the car is parked.
EDAG lists the possible price at around 30,000 euros (39,000 dollars).
