Kubang Maserati makes North American debut
Jan 18, 2012, 3:06 GMT
Detroit - After making its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, the Kubang Maserati Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) made its North American debut at the Detroit Motor Show where it will be produced on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Production of the car is scheduled for the North American market next year and will be sold under an Italian name, said a Maserati spokesman at the show.
The production version will be fitted with a V-8 engine built by Ferrari engineers and will be exported to the US where it will be mated to an eight-speed transmission. Suspension, brakes and steering will be Maserati-engineered, the spokesman added.
Maserati has however not revealed pricing for the SUV that marks the entry into a new segment by the Italian carmaker.
