Nov 30, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Detroit - Porsche is unveiling at the Detroit Motor Show in January next year an open-top version of the new 911 with the roof opening and closing at a speed of up to 50 km/h within 13 seconds.
Like the coupe version of the 911 that was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the body is an aluminium-steel construction.
With weight significantly reduced compared to the predecessor model, consumption is listed at under ten litres per 100 kilometres.
The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is fitted with a 3.4-litre engine with an output of 350 hp. The Carrera S Cabrio has some 400 hp. Optional extras are an aerodynamic package, ceramic brakes, sports seats and leather interior.
Porsche lists the basic price for the 911 Carrera Cabrio at 100,532 euros (135,000 dollars) with the Carrera S-Cabrio costing 114,931 euros. In comparison the coupe version is listed at 88,037 euros.
