Cheap Skoda Rapid to hit European markets in 2012

Prague - Skoda is mixing up the low-price segment on the European car market by launching the Rapid at the end of next year for a price of 13,000 euros (17,900 dollars) in direct competition with Dacia and Hyundai, Germany's auto-motor-sport magazine reports.
Like the Octavia, the Rapid comes with a large rear door and spacious interior with a luggage volume of more than 500 litres. Customers will have the choice of many extras including parking sensors, automatic climate control and a dual clutch system.
A longer version fitted with an 80 hp 1.4-litre engine is planned early next year for the Indian market, the magazine reports with the European version of the Skoda Rapid to feature the 1.2 TSI engine in the range between 85 and 105 hp, the magazine reports.
