Citroen SUV available early next year
Oct 12, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Paris - Citroen is launching its C4 Aircross Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) early next year based on the Mitsubishi ASX and featuring a high-placed bonnet, wide wheel arches and coupe-style sloped roof.
The 18-inch alloys and tail-lights stem from the Citroen design study Hypnos that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2008. The C4 Aircross will be available as both a front-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicle, according to the manufacturer.
In the 4x4 version the driver can choose three drive modes. The two-wheel mode is more fuel efficient while the four-wheel drive mode distributes power automatically between the front and rear wheels. The mode 'lock' ensures the maximum traction.
Citroen is still keeping mum on the engine but it is expected to be the 1.6 Hdi diesel engine from Mitsubishi. The C4 Aircross will celebrate its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
