Peugeot reveals electric city car
Oct 5, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Paris - Peugeot revealed an electric city car, seating three people, at a recent innovation congress organized by the French environmental agency ADEME.
The Velv city car is fitted with a 20 kW electric motor powered by an 8.5 kWh lithium-ion battery unit that gives the vehicle a range of 100 kilometres. The top speed is listed at 110 km/h.
With a weight of only 650 kilogrammes, the driver is seated in the centre with the two passenger seats positioned towards the left and right behind the driver and beneath a glass-domed roof.
The Peugeot Velv is the latest in the line of mini city electric concept vehicles, following the Frankfurt Motor Show in September where the VW Nils, Audi Urban Concept and Opel RAK e were unveiled. As with all concept cars, it is unclear whether production versions will follow.
