Peugeot releases pictures of MPV concept
Sep 14, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Paris - Just ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show Peugeot has released the first pictures of the HX1 six-seater MPV concept powered by a diesel-electric power-train with four 'half-scissor' doors offering easy access to the cabin.
From the exterior the design adopts the new 'floating' front grille seen on the Peugeot 508 and seven-spoke alloys that form a flat surface when the car is moving for improved aerodynamics. A spoiler and two side skirts at the rear are deployed automatically at speeds over 100 km/h.
The interior includes brushed metal and leather fabrics with an array of gadgets and screens and a central console featuring a mini bar and coffee machine.
Power comes from a 2.2-litre 204 hp diesel engine linked to a six-speed transmission with a 95 hp electric motor driving the rear wheels, giving a combined output of 220 kW/299 hp.
The lithium-ion batteries can be charged from a standard 240V socket, offering a range in purely electric mode of just under 30 kilometres.
According to Peugeot, average fuel consumption is at 3.2 litres per 100 kilometres with a carbon dioxide emission figure of 83 grammes per kilometre.
